CELL TOWERS - INCREASING EVIDENCE OF ADVERSE HEALTH EFFECTS

"More Towns Are Fighting Cell Tower Siting Close To Schools, Medical Facilities, And Residential Communities"

William Godstein is general counsel of the Maharishi University of Management, and affirmed to "Reconsider dangers of cell-phone towers."   The proposed construction by U.S. Cellular of an 85-foot-cell-phone tower in the small town of Fairfield gave area residents deep prompted concerns in regard to cell tower health  issues.  In turn, the company delayed construction and met with Mayor Ed Malloy, Maharishi University and a town committee, who gave alternative proposals.   On June 10, 20009, Jack Rooney, president and CEO of U.S. Cellular, sent a letter to the editor of the Fairfield Ledger denying the resumption further stating that "the tower's radio-frequency levels were well within the government's acceptable limits."  He also claimed, "there is no credible evidence that cell-phone towers pose a risk to people's health."

GROWING EVIDENCE MOUNTS OF THE ADVERSE HEALTH EFFECTS OF EMF AND RF EMISSION LEVELS 

National laws of Austria, Bulgaria, China, Hungary, Italy, Russia and Switzerland, among others, hold more stringent regulations in the cell phone industry than current laws in the United States.   FCC guildelines, and cellular company compliance facts, do not hold accountable the fact adverse health effects have been documented at levels well below FCC guildelines.  Though this truth is not economically welcomed by technology company movers and shakers, adverse health effects include altered white blood cells in schoolchildren; childhood leukemia; impared moter function, reaction time and memory; headaches; dizziness; fatigue; weakness; and insomnia.   Based on epidemiological studies of people living near cell phone antennas in Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria and Israel, these health problems are shown to exists.

"The Europen Parliament, representing all the member nations of the European Union, are 'concerned about the continuing uncertainties about possible health risks concerning magnetic radiation,' adopted a report on April 2, by vote of 599 to 22 providing that "the placement of antennas, mobile phone masts and high voltage power lines be negotiated between industry actors, public authorities and residents' associations in order to minimize health risks and legal-action cases.'"  How safe are radiation levels?  This is a major question of research, and scientific  inquiry.   The cell-phone wireless industry should show both responsiblity, and interest of the possible adverse health affects to human life from cell phone towers.
